Goalie Dressing Instructions

2016-11-14 - Initiation B - IPB

Instructors for Dressing....

In the bag,
Pads, gloves, chest protection and throat guard.

What you need to bring. Pants, jock, socks, helmet, neck guard skates and jersey. (no shin pads, elbow pads, shoulder pads or gloves needed)

Instructions on pads. Most difficult is the toe lace. The following is a good quick how to video.

Aside from that, the elastic straps around the knees should be tight, the other straps don't tie too tight.(but not too loose at this age). The bottom leather strap that goes around the the ankle/back of the skate is long. Try and tie it or tape it up so it doesn't drag on the ice. Goalie skates are meant to accommodate goalie pads. You may find your child's regular skates are not ideal for the toe lace or back heal strap, you may need to improvise.

Throat protector
Attaches directly to the mask. Top 2 strings tie to the upper back of the face mask. The middle string (if still there) ties to the middle of the mask to hold it up. This middle string is not needed but it is best if installed. It is recommended that the throat protector is installed prior to coming to the rink.

Final tip, if possible give yourself a little extra time, goalie equipment takes a little longer to put on.
If your child is not a fan of the throat protector, their regular neckguar is sufficient.
