Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check

Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check and Criminal Records Checks
  • Required for ALL volunteers - coaches, assistant coaches, trainers, managers, on-ice assistants, dressing room supervisors and treasurers and renewed at the start of every third season (to be valid for the 2023/2024 season, it must be dated August 1st, 2021 or later).  Only Treasurers with no direct contact with the players obtain a Criminal Records Check - all others require a Vulnerable Sector Check.

  • This is now done quickly and easily online -  to apply for your Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) or Criminal Records Check, go to: https://www.ottawapolice.ca/en/reports-and-requests/police-record-checks.aspx and check off the "electronic return" section, rather than ask for a paper copy when you are submitting your on-line application. This is the quickest way to receive the VSC, and the best for our database logging purposes.

  • Once your receive your completed check back from Ottawa Police, forward it directly to firstvp@ormha.ca

  • We do not accept printouts/photocopies of the electronic VSC's; they must be delivered in a pdf format.

  • Ottawa Police Services will charge a fee starting September 1st, 2019, so please ask for your letter well in advance so that you do not have to pay for your records check.  Keep your receipt, you will be reimbursed the $10 fee.

  • Your PRC will be reflected on your HCR (Hockey Canada Record) and must be there in order for you to appear on a roster.
